Taguchi Inspection Services supplies CWB Level 2 certified welding inspectors across Edmonton and Alberta's Industrial Heartland, and we keep an office here at 2203 – 44 Ave NW. Edmonton is the shortest mobilisation we do in Alberta and the base we dispatch from for the rest of the province.
This is an inspection manpower supply business. You get a named, certified inspector, current tickets, and a rate you can put straight into a purchase order.
What we supply
CWB Level 2 visual welding inspectors
CSA W178.2 Level 2 — certified to inspect independently, interpret the code, accept or reject a weld, and sign the report that goes into your turnover package.
Single inspector or roster fill
One inspector for a two-week shop job, or coverage held across a turnaround window. Day shift, night shift, or rotation.
Short-notice mobilisation
Call with a start date. You get availability and a rate the same day, not a week later once a proposal has been through three approvals.
Tickets current, ready to badge
H2S Alive, CSTS-2020, OSSA/BSO, Fall Protection, Confined Space, Ground Disturbance, First Aid, fit test and current drug and alcohol. Copies sent before mobilisation.
Where our inspectors work in the Edmonton region
- Refining and petrochemical in the Industrial Heartland — Fort Saskatchewan, Strathcona County and Sherwood Park: piping, vessels and structural steel during tie-ins and planned outages.
- Nisku and Leduc fabrication shops — resident or visit-based surveillance from material receipt through final visual and dimensional release.
- Module and skid yards building for projects further north, where catching a non-conformance in the yard costs a fraction of catching it on site.
- Acheson and west-end industrial — structural steel and miscellaneous metals to CSA W59 and W47.1.
Mobilisation and logistics
Edmonton work normally carries no travel or LOA, because we are already here. That makes it the cheapest way to buy inspection hours from us anywhere in Alberta.
- Same-week starts are often possible for shop work, subject to your site access process.
- Part-day and visit-based inspection — you do not have to buy a full day to get a hold point witnessed.
- Base for provincial dispatch — Fort McMurray about 4.5 hours north, Calgary 3 hours south, Grande Prairie 5 hours northwest.
- ABSA-scope work covered to ASME B31.3 and Section IX alongside the CSA standards.
Codes our inspectors work to
- CSA W59 — welded steel construction, the acceptance criteria most Canadian structural welds are judged against.
- CSA W47.1 — verifying the fabricator holds certification and is working within their division.
- CSA W178.2 — the standard the Level 2 qualification itself is issued under.
- ASME B31.3 and Section IX — process piping, and welding procedure and performance qualification.
- AWS D1.1 — where the project is specified to the American structural code.
- ABSA requirements — for pressure equipment work in Alberta.
How to book an inspector

- You get availability, a rate and the inspector's certification numbers back the same day.
- Tickets, certificate copies, insurance certificate and WCB clearance are sent before mobilisation, in whatever format your prequalification system wants.
- Daily inspection reports are issued the day the work happened, not batched at the end of the job.

Do you actually have an Edmonton office?
Yes — 2203 – 44 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T6T 0T1. Head office is in Delta, British Columbia. We are straight about which cities we have premises in and which we mobilise to.
Can you cover a single hold point rather than a whole day?
Yes. Visit-based inspection is normal for shop surveillance in Nisku and Acheson. Minimum call-out is on the credentials page.
Will you do vendor surveillance on our behalf?
Yes, and it is a large part of what we do here. We attend the fabricator, work to your ITP, and report to you rather than to them.
What notice do you need?
Published on the credentials page. If we cannot make your date we will say so rather than accept and scramble.
