Taguchi Inspection Services supplies CWB Level 2 certified welding inspectors to Grande Prairie and the Peace region. Montney gas work has a different rhythm to oil sands — more sites, smaller scopes, tighter turnarounds, and a lot of pressure piping that has to satisfy ABSA as well as the client.
We supply the inspector. You get certification numbers, current tickets and a rate the same day you ask.

CWB Level 2 visual welding inspectors
CSA W178.2 Level 2 — certified to inspect independently, interpret the code, accept or reject a weld, and sign the report that goes into your turnover package.
Single inspector or roster fill
One inspector for a two-week shop job, or coverage held across a turnaround window. Day shift, night shift, or rotation.
Short-notice mobilisation
Call with a start date. You get availability and a rate the same day, not a week later once a proposal has been through three approvals.
Tickets current, ready to badge
H2S Alive, CSTS-2020, OSSA/BSO, Fall Protection, Confined Space, Ground Disturbance, First Aid, fit test and current drug and alcohol. Copies sent before mobilisation.
Where our inspectors work in the region
- Gas plants and processing facilities across the Montney and Peace River areas — piping, vessels and structural steel during tie-ins and planned outages.
- Compressor stations and pipeline facilities, including above-ground piping and station fabrication.
- Wellsite and battery piping, where ABSA pressure piping requirements apply and the paperwork has to hold up.
- Regional fabrication shops supplying the gas industry, on a surveillance or final-release basis.
Mobilisation and logistics
Grande Prairie is about a 5-hour drive northwest of our Edmonton office, or a flight into YQU. Rural and remote sites in the Peace region are normal work for us.
- Multi-site days — where scopes are small and scattered, one inspector covering several locations in a day is often the sensible way to buy this.
- Winter access — lease road conditions and cold-weather welding requirements factored into scheduling.
- LOA and accommodation quoted up front for anything beyond a day trip.
- Short-notice tie-ins — call and ask; the answer will be honest about whether we can make the date.
Codes our inspectors work to
- CSA W59 — welded steel construction, the acceptance criteria most Canadian structural welds are judged against.
- CSA W47.1 — verifying the fabricator holds certification and is working within their division.
- CSA W178.2 — the standard the Level 2 qualification itself is issued under.
- ASME B31.3 and Section IX — process piping, and welding procedure and performance qualification.
- AWS D1.1 — where the project is specified to the American structural code.
- ABSA requirements — for pressure equipment work in Alberta.

- Tickets, certificate copies, insurance certificate and WCB clearance are sent before mobilisation, in whatever format your prequalification system wants.
- Daily inspection reports are issued the day the work happened, not batched at the end of the job.

Common questions
Do you cover ABSA pressure piping requirements?
Yes — our inspectors work to ASME B31.3 and Section IX alongside the CSA standards, which is what Alberta pressure equipment work generally calls for.
Will you cover several small sites in one trip?
Usually the most economical way to do Peace region work. Send the list of locations and scopes and we will price it as one mobilisation.
What is the minimum engagement?
Minimum call-out and notice period are published on the credentials page.
Can you start before the paperwork clears?
No — and you should be wary of anyone who says yes. What we can do is get tickets, insurance and clearance letters to your prequalification team the same day you ask.
